notes:
Everyone can name the singer and guitarist of their favorite band And memorize the drummer's name when they shake his hand Oh, but nobody knows the name of the guy on bass It's a strain on the brain when they try to recognize his face While the singer and guitarist are dancing to the drummer's groove There's a bass player thumping the strings and he does not move He is standing in the darkness on stage 'cause there's nothing to see No one ever said about him, "That's the kind of player I want to be" Well, the bass player gets no accolades No loving fans, no ticker tape parades You should listen for the sound of low frequencies It's the bass player's thunder that brings you to your knees On your knees To the bass player man It's not as if I ever wanted to play the bass But it's hard for me to sing and I don't have a pretty face So I'm saddled with an instrument that no-one ever thinks about 'Cause the music sounds about the same with the bass or without. Well, the bass player gets no accolades No loving fans, no ticker tape parades You should listen for the sound of low frequencies It's the bass player's thunder that brings you to your knees On your knees To the bass player man
