The hardest step
came that cold day
into the judges chambers
so I could beg for mercy
federal ciruit judge
bankruptcy protection
couldn't protect me
from the hardest step
the step to hold a grudge


 that sense of failure of throwing in the towel
  made me boil in pain bitter angry scowl
 It was a miracle I even showed that day
   the hardest step came that cold day
into judges chambers
into judges chambers

a ruling over me
it wasn't what bothered me
or creditors 
who had that tight grip on me
the nervous fear 
that overwhelmed and came to me
The hardest step was giving in, begging for mercy
